John Adams Elementary School is a "Friend of Core Knowledge" school. Core Knowledge is an exciting and innovative approach to learning developed by professor emeritus E.D.Hirsch Jr. in 1986, that actively builds on previous knowledge with lessons that are content rich, coherent, cumulative, and cross curicular. Our students are then able to build knowledge upon knowledge.
"Our society cannot afford a two-tiered system in which the affluent have access to a superior education, while everyone else is subjected to a dull and incoherent classroom experience. Academic excellence, educational equity and fairness demand a strong foundation of knowledge for all learners." ----E.D. Hirsch Jr.'
